Scoreboards have traditionally been an important component in any gymnasium as an effective tool for sporting events. The digital EDGE media team has pioneered and refined this solution over the past 5 years since the first pilot project in the gymnasium of Bev Facey Community High School. These media walls were made of narrow bezel monitors tiled to make a larger image. Even though the technology has advanced to seamless large-format LED boards, the fundamental purpose still remains; to provide a solution that embraces the growing demand for media in education, and removes the limitation technology has on creativity.
HOW IT WAS DONE: TRADITIONAL SCOREBOARD
- Large and bulky
- Limited functionality
- Old and unreliable
- Complex controls difficult to master
- Projectors for video content
HOW IT’S DONE NOW: MULTI-PURPOSE MEDIA WALL
The MediaWall from digital EDGE media has been designed to replace ageing and difficult to use scoreboards with a solution that provides traditional scoreboard functionality along with the ability to playback media and integrate with your audiovisual system. Typically, the MediaWall is made of LCD monitors in either a 2×2 or 3×3 layout to produce a large full-colour viewing area. Recently, LED panels have been used in place of the LCD monitors to create a product that is completely seamless from edge to edge with no bezels taking up screen space.
- Integrated with the audiovisual system
- Functionality for various sports via packaged scoreboard software
- Replaces dull projectors for media playback
- Perform gym presentations with a bright vivid display
- Integrate with digital signage when not in use
